Recycling your waste as much as possible is good for the environment and can also benefit you. You can take separated waste to a milieuperron (sorting station) near you. Please take larger household waste items to one of the regional recycling centres. Find out on this page where to dispose of your waste.
Sorting your waste
You can sort and dispose of the following waste for free at a nearby milieuperron (sorting station):
- Glass (clear and coloured glass)
- Paper and cardboard
- Nappies and incontinence products
- Pmd (plastic packaging, metal packaging and drinking cartons)
Pmd waste—plastic packaging, metal packaging and drinking cartons—is collected free of charge every 2 weeks in most parts of the city, except the city centre. You can take pmd to a nearby sorting station if you live in the centre: the area bounded by the Groene Loper, the Noorderbrug and Kennedy routes and Hertogsingel.
Gft+e—vegetable, fruit, garden and food waste—is collected free of charge every week. milieuparken (recycling centres). Most types of waste can be disposed of for free, but a small fee applies for certain items. Please sort your waste at home beforehand so staff at the recycling centre can check and calculate any costs.

- Sorting stations are for residents of Maastricht only.
- Use is permitted between 7.00 and 22.00.
- Do not leave waste beside or on top of containers. If a container is full, please visit another sorting station or take your waste home.
Breaking these rules may result in fines. CCTV monitoring may be in place at sorting stations.
