Notice of civil partnership
If you want to form a civil partnership, you need to give notice of your intention to register a civil partnership. This notification must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the desired date. This is the statutory deadline. We recommend filing the notification a little earlier if, for example, you have lived abroad for a longer period of time. The notification of intended civil partnership is only valid for up to 1 year. We will then check whether you are allowed to form a civil partnership.
Foreign documents?
If you provide foreign documents with your notice, approval will take longer than 14 days. Lodge your notice at least 1 month before the ceremony, particularly if one or both of you is not Dutch.
The celebrant will help you plan the date, location, time and other options of your civil partnership ceremony. The package you choose dictates the range of available options.
Civil partnership packages
Various packages are available if you are forming a civil partnership in Maastricht. The package you choose dictates…
- …how long the ceremony will take;
- …when the ceremony will take place;
- …whether you can choose your own venue;
- …whether you can choose your own celebrant.
You need to set a date for your civil partnership before you can give notice. Send an email to huwelijk [at] maastricht.nl (huwelijk[at]maastricht[dot]nl) or call 14 043 to set a date.
